Also, take a look at the 2012 retreat schedule. For information about off-site accommodation, see below. About Off-Site Accommodation Ubud is famous for its homestays. Usually, that means you get to live in housing owned and operated by a Balinese family. Staying at a homestay gives you the chance to live in closer proximity to Balinese culture. Plus, homestays are clean, very affordable and range between $12US and $35US per night. Most homestays have hot water but some don't. Be sure to specify if you want a room with hot water when you make your booking. If you're looking for a no-frills option, living in a homestay in Ubud could be the solution for you! However, you don't have to do a homestay in order to get the workshop-only rate! Simply arrange your own accommodation and feel free to contact us if you need help. Ananda Cottages is about a 20 to 25 minute walk from the center of town. Taxi service is readily available. Also, we can provide you with a list of reliable drivers for easy transport to and from Ananda. Here's a great link to a list of homestay options in Bali. One of my favorite places, Dana Sari is mentioned. They are located in the center of town right across from a well-known hotspot eatery in Ubud. Rooms there go for $15/night to $18/night. March is a busy time in Ubud. The earlier you email your place of choice, the better! What's not included: Airfare, Lunch and Dinner* *Excellent meals are available in the Ananda Cottages restaurant for $15US. Also, the retreat center is about a 15 minute walk from some of Ubud's other fine restaurants where meals will cost you from 150,000 rupiah to 200,000 rupiah (roughly $16 - $22). If you walk another 10 minutes into the center of town, you can find inexpensive but good quality restaurants for closer to 25,000 rupiah to 100,000 rupiah (from $3 - $11). Keep in mind that these prices are from 2011. Things are changing rapidly in Bali and Ubud especially, due to its recent high visibility in the film, Eat, Pray, Love. On the up side, we will be gathering in the off-season. See more information on local costs below. Local Costs Once you get to Bali, you'll find things like food, transportation, and gift shopping to be very affordable. Motorbikes are the preferred method of transport on the island. If you know how to drive one and plan on being in Bali for several weeks, I recommend renting one during your stay. Last year's price to rent a new motorbike for one month was 600,000 rupiah or $65US. Check your guide book for more details on how to make a budget for your trip. Cancellation Policy Your registration is transferable but not refundable. No exceptions. Thank you for understanding! Getting There
