Week One, April 3-10 Yoga Trance Dance Yoga Trance Dance is an exploration of the eternal flow of natural movement through yoga. Beginning with sahaja prana yoga, or the experience of prana initiating yogasanas, Yoga Trance Dance flows into an exploration of both guided and free-form, breath driven movement to liberate one's creative life-force and intelligently cultivate embodied freedom. Come ready to sweat, smile, open, move and groove through both guided and spontaneous movement stemming from yoga and various dance forms, intended to open our bodies and spirits to the creative flow of the life force within.
Week Two, April 12-19 Prana Flow Prana Flow is an energetic, creative, full-spectrum approach to embodying the flow of yoga cultivated by Shiva Rea and the Global Vinyasa Collective of Teachers. Students of all levels are empowered to experience prana - the universal source of breath, life-energy and conscious intelligence - as the navigating source of yoga practice and vital living, as well as the energetic base of sustainability in embodied practices. Practitioners learn classical and innovative approaches to vinyasa yoga and the state of flow drawn from Krishnamacharya's teachings, Tantra, Ayurveda, Bhakti, Somatics, Therapeutics, Michelle Nayeli's teaching of the last thirteen years and her years of study and assisting Shiva Rea. Michelle Nayeli will be teaching Yoga Trance Dance for Week Two of SCBali 2013.
Concepts: Circle Sadhana ~ Hoopdance as a Personal Practice A Deha Sadhana is a daily ritual practice of the body, entered into as an honoring and connection to our unique embodiment of divine awareness. The circle -and the hoop- can be a powerful teacher and partner in a daily practice of inner listening and devotion. In this session, we first take somatic circularity inside for effective hoop cross-training with simple drills and warm-ups inspired by other movement modalities that follow circular patterns. Circle Sadhana builds with hoopdance drills and technical movement circuits meant to bring us deeper into the flow state as well as open up all possibilities, directions, and variations of movement skills. You will come away with a template for a well-rounded personal practice, technical tips & drills that will open doors of creative potential, and a greater connection to the power, meaning, and unity of the Circle.
Concepts: Vinyasa of the Hoop Experience a unique form of mind-body-awareness training using a hoop and Prana Flow-inspired vinyasa sequences. Integration of the Hoop, a symbol of unity and continuity, invites greater opening throughout the body, while honing one’s sensitivity, balance, and embodiment of energetic alignment. We seek harmony of strength and fluidity, that of the graceful warrior who serves the Sacred Hoop of Life. Class will be playful, joyful, and creative, full of discovery in how the hoop can be a teacher of optimal alignment and opening the body through balanced actions.Fundamentals: Core-Hooping In this workshop we will focus on establishing a meaningful conversation between our hoop and our core, learning first to listen to and respond to the hoop's rhythm and then developing an authentic and expressive response with our bodies. We will play with both on-body and off-body possibilities and explore some basic breaks and reverses.
