Jaguar Mary at the 2014 Sacred Circularities Hoop Dance and Movement Meditation Retreat in Sedona
I feel refreshed. Kara spent the night at our house and is preparing to embark on a journey to the Grand Canyon and Monument Valley. Chris is here cleaning out gallon jars from the smoothie bar. Today, I will return a vending rack and kombucha jars to their original places. Issac, the psychic chihuahua is back home, happy to be in the presence of his mama, Kiana, my housemate. The energy of the retreat is still powerfully swirling, and I am grateful for the small tasks that remind me of the beautiful daily rhythms that danced in my body this week during the 2nd Sacred Circularities Hoop Dance and Movement Meditation Retreat in Sedona.
I have been channelling and manifesting Sacred Circularities for over five years. In that 5 years, there have been thirteen weeks of gatherings. That’s 13 circles of brilliant beings coming together for 7 days at a time to learn and share with each other, to dance and dive deep into the mysteries of living the human dream on Earth. I have been showered with so much love during that time. I have been faced with deep challenges and self-doubt and I have been shown the way through those difficulties and steadied by an invisible team of beings who touch me gently and constantly remind me that they have my back.
I started contemplating this post during last night's salt bath. While the water medicine worked its perfect softening, I started thinking about the closing circle that had happened a few hours before. I remembered trying to relay an idea about how our hoop dance community creates a breathing web on the planet. During my soak it came to me. I started to picture it like this: We come together to energize our lives. We have the opportunity to learn and absorb the beauty of our sisters and brothers and the land around us. We are fed entirely and on all levels of our being. It’s like an inhale of breath, like a macro-breath in. It’s the powerful inhale of the collective that begins to create a fiery field of wellness, connectedness and transformation. We dance, build and energize this inhale for seven days, culminating in our closing circle.
Then we hula hoopers spread out, going to a home base that is somewhere else in the world; Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Canada, Idaho, Washington, DC, wherever. That’s when, we exhale the macro-breath out. We emit all the light and love we gathered during the retreat. We soothe ourselves for the continuing journey and we shine brightly, infusing our surroundings with the experience we just shared. And yet, we are who we are. There’s nothing to be forced. It happens simply, through our presence. We emanate. And that’s when we can see even more clearly, through this new shining, the reflections of the people and situations around us. We realize that there’s stuff happening in our lives that is really wonderful and spectacular and we realize (because we’re shining and there’s more light to see), that there’s stuff in our lives that we really don’t want to be there anymore. In time, we start to make changes and shift things around. We begin to open up to those deep, hidden, unspoken dreams. Personally, I’m ready to step into some of my most fun and juicy visions. I see myself on-stage singing a medicine song to thousands of people. I see an album of self-composed medicine songs that serves to inspire people to summon their Supreme Being-ness. And so it is.
The web is created by our breath and our dreams. Sedona is a node of inhale, Bali is another. That is what I’ve created for myself in this moment. When I leave those places and land in another part of the world, I carry the breath of love created by my SC community with me. I exhale it out and share it with other folks without even knowing it. It’s the macro-breath that stokes the flames of transformation for the entire planet. May we continue to be present and in service to this cleansing rhythm. Thank you so much for bringing your hearts, bodies and minds to Sedona. She loves you and I do, too. Thank you for dancing with me, trusting me and holding me. Until we meet again, carry on, Beautiful Hooperbeings! Carry on.
