The initiations that are upon us right now are mighty. War, corruption, rampant greed and disregard for our Home are just a few of the things that are in our sphere right now. One wonders how, as spiraling dancers and brilliant creators, we are meant to proceed when the winds of change buffet with such ferocity.
These are a couple of the messages that came into my heart during my brief time in the Cave:
1. Stay focused. Distraction is easy to fall into because there are emotional triggers everywhere you look. Part of staying focused and aware is to notice which triggers feel good and which ones make you feel a little crappy. Then make a choice. Decide what kind of people, places and things you want to be near so that you feel supported instead of drained.
2. Dive deep into the shadow. When anguish arises, it's a sure sign that some part of you is ready to shift. During a recent period of shadow intensity, I felt as if wanted to say goodbye to the pain and to everyone. I couldn't believe the crushing sensation that was happening in my body. I let it roll through me. I cried and shook uncontrollably. I called out in the darkness for help. Finally, after the tears subsided, a life-changing realization came that is still working on me now, as I write these words. I leapt over an obstacle that I didn't even realize was present. Nothing is the same and that is good.
3. Freedom is a space that one discovers through total self-love and acceptance. It is not a logo or a feel-good marketing strategy. It is also not gained through violence. It has nothing to do with how well-traveled we are. It is acquired through trust and the realization that some of the most amazing aspects of being alive live outside the space of cognitive understanding.
4. Move and breathe consciously. A daily movement practice of any period of time is a message to your spirit that you are connected to your body and therefore, connected to the Earth. This primary relationship will support our dreams to realize peace in our lives, communities and the World. Movement and breath are essential bodily expressions and the root of human transformation. This includes meditative stillness which on the micro level, is still movement.
In a few days, the first Sacred Circularities Hoop Dance and Movement Meditation Retreat in Sedona will commence. I am stoked about the chance to be in community in powerful Sedona-land. Thank you all for witnessing the birth of this special gathering! May all alignments, communal webs, and inter-relations be enhanced by the beautiful energy of love we create during the retreat.
